What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named supply A, it concerns the voltage supply to the position sensors that check the shift forks for the odd gears and reverse. The transmission control module has registered that the voltage there is too low. The cause may be a supply wire shorted to ground, damaged wires or connectors, or a damaged control module.

What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2With the ignition off, check the wires and connectors to the transmission control module and the gearbox for chafing and loose contacts
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire is not shorted to ground
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the voltage to the position sensors in live data; if it is outside the normal range the fault most likely lies in the module
- 5Have a workshop replace the transmission control module or the mechatronic unit if the fault remains; a new module must be programmed

- The automatic gearbox shifts harshly or jerkily
