What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module has registered that the voltage to the position sensors for the odd gears and reverse is too high. This may be a sensor wire shorted to supply voltage, or a damaged control module.
Possible causes
- Sensor supply wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged transmission control module
What you can do
- 1Clear the fault code and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2With the ignition off, check the wires to the position sensors for chafing, damage and loose contacts
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the position sensors is not shorted to supply voltage
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the voltage to the position sensors in live data; if it is outside the normal range the fault most likely lies in the module
- 5Have a workshop replace the transmission control module or the mechatronic unit if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice5
- The malfunction indicator (Check engine) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- No movement forwards or backwards in gear
- The automatic gearbox shifts harshly or jerkily
- Shifting takes too long
