What does this fault code mean?
The range sensor inside the transmission control module is receiving incorrect signals from two of its Hall sensors, and the signals are erratic. The cause may be a damaged range sensor, or a damaged connector or wire.

- Damaged gear range sensor
- Damaged connector or wire
What you can do
- 1Check that the selector cable is correctly fitted and adjusted; have a workshop adjust it if needed
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, move the selector through all positions and check that the position in live data matches the one selected
- 3With the ignition off, check the connector to the transmission control module for oxidation and loose contacts
- 4Have a workshop replace the transmission control module if the fault remains; the range sensor is inside it and a new module must be programmed
Symptoms you may notice3
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- No movement forwards or backwards in gear
- The key cannot be removed from the ignition lock
