What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module has two temperature sensors, one in the oil pan and one in the module's processor. The difference between their values is larger than allowed, and it cannot be told which sensor gives the wrong value. The fault may be in a connector or in either sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged oil temperature sensor
- Damaged temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment, read both temperature sensor values in live data with the engine idling and compare them with each other and with room temperature
- 3Check the connectors to the transmission control module for contact resistance, oxidation and looseness
- 4Have a workshop check the temperature sensors and decide which one is faulty; replace the faulty sensor

- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- The malfunction indicator (Check engine) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- The automatic gearbox shifts harshly or jerkily
- Shifting takes too long
