What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) compares the speed from the input speed sensor with the engine speed it receives from the engine control module. The sensor signal deviates from the engine speed, so the module judges that the sensor is giving a wrong value, and gear changes may not happen.
Possible causes
- Input speed sensor not working
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the input speed in live data at idle and check that it follows engine speed as it is raised
- 3Have a workshop check that the sensor is seated properly, and replace it if it does not work, since it sits inside the transmission
