What does this fault code mean?
The control module receives no signal from the input speed sensor, which measures the transmission input shaft. Without this signal the module cannot calculate gear change timing or keep shifts smooth, and lock-up is affected.
Possible causes
- Higher resistance at a connection
- Input speed sensor not working
- A fault inside the TCM itself
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the input speed in live data at idle; if no value appears, the fault lies in the sensor, wiring or connector
- 2Read and clear the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 3Have a workshop check the sensor connector for a loose fit and confirm the sensor is seated properly, since it sits inside the transmission
- 4If the sensor and wiring look sound, the fault may lie in the control module, which a workshop should check
Symptoms you may notice5
- Emissions warning lamp (MIL) comes on
- The general warning lamp comes on
- Lock-up does not work
- Gear changes are harsh
- Gear changes do not happen
What the fault can affect1
- The transmission is controlled by an auxiliary program
