What does this fault code mean?
The function that disconnects the driven part of the transmission at idle, to save fuel and reduce vibration, is not working correctly. The engine jerks or runs unevenly when neutral control engages, which points to a solenoid that has stuck or a mechanical fault in the transmission.
Possible causes
- A solenoid in the transmission has stuck
- Mechanical faults in the transmission
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop check the transmission fluid level and quality; if the level is too low, a leak may need to be investigated
- 2Read and clear the code, then road test with the selector in D to see whether neutral control works without the engine jerking
- 3Have a workshop check the solenoid and the transmission's mechanics, since they sit inside the transmission

- Uneven idle when neutral control engages
- Lock-up does not work
- The malfunction indicator lamp (Check engine) comes on or behaves abnormally
