What does this fault code mean?
This code is event-driven and does not indicate a fault in the control module where it is active. The ratio for 2nd gear is close to that of another gear, which may be due to a solenoid, a clutch part or a mechanical fault in the transmission.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or poor contact in the connectors to the linear pressure solenoids
- A linear pressure solenoid has stuck or is damaged
- Damaged or worn clutch
- Poor fluid quality
- Mechanical faults in the transmission
What you can do
- 1Read all codes: if there are other transmission codes, deal with them first, since they may be the root fault
- 2Clear the code and road test the car in second gear to see whether it returns
- 3If the fault returns often, tell the workshop how often it happens and how many miles the car has covered
Symptoms you may notice5
- Gear changes are harsh or jerky
- No automatic gear change
- Gear changes take a long time
- Gear changes happen too early, too late or too often
- No manual gear change
What the fault can affect3
- Adaptation function is blocked
- Neutral check is blocked
- The transmission engages a safe gear and holds it for a while before a new one can be requested
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
