What does this fault code mean?
Third gear gives a ratio that is close to that of another gear, even though it is selected. The code is event-driven and does not indicate a fault in the control module where it is active. It is an information code.
Possible causes
- Faulty operation of the solenoid circuit for third gear
- Damaged or worn clutch
- Poor fluid quality
- Mechanical faults in the transmission
- Contact resistance or poor contact in the connectors to the linear pressure solenoids
What you can do
- 1First check whether the transmission has other fault codes; if so, they are the root fault
- 2Clear the code and road test in third gear to see whether it returns
- 3If it returns, have a workshop assess the oil and the condition of the clutch

- No manual gear change
