What does this fault code mean?
6th gear is selected, but its ratio resembles that of another gear. The code is event-driven, which in practice means it is mainly information and does not point to a fault in the control module where it is active.
Possible causes
- Fault in the solenoid circuit for 6th gear
- Damaged or worn clutch
- Poor fluid quality
- Mechanical faults in the transmission
- Contact resistance or poor contact in the connectors to the linear pressure or shift solenoids
What you can do
- 1First check whether the transmission has other fault codes; if so, they are probably the root fault and should be dealt with first
- 2Clear the code and road test in sixth gear to see whether it returns
- 3If it returns, have a workshop assess the clutch condition and the oil
