What does this fault code mean?
Seventh gear gives a ratio that deviates from the expected one. The control module compares the ratio with the value for that gear and finds a difference, which may be caused by a fault in the linear pressure solenoids or a mechanical fault in the transmission.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or poor contact in the connectors to the linear pressure solenoids
- One or more linear pressure solenoids have stuck
- One or more linear pressure solenoids are damaged
- Fault inside the transmission control module (TCM) or its control system
- Mechanical faults in the transmission
What you can do
- 1First check whether there are other transmission fault codes; they may be the root fault and should be dealt with first
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the linear pressure solenoids in the tool's test and see whether they click
- 3Have a workshop check the connectors and wiring of the linear pressure solenoids, and the oil quality and level
- 4If no fault is found there, have a workshop look at the transmission's mechanics and the control module
Symptoms you may notice5
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- The malfunction indicator lamp (Check engine) comes on or behaves abnormally
- The car may feel underpowered
- No automatic gear change
- Gear changes happen too early, too late or too often
What the fault can affect3
- The control module blocks gears that are not available
- Adaptation function is blocked
- Neutral check is blocked
