What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) drives the solenoids in the transmission's mechatronic unit, which regulate the hydraulic pressure in the gearbox. Solenoid C controls the pressure for the clutch used by the odd gears. The code is set when the current in the solenoid's power stage is too high, and it can only be detected while the engine is running.
Possible causes
- Damaged wires or circuit board in the transmission control system
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off and on and check whether the fault returns
- 2Check the transmission oil level and that the oil is clean, since dirt and metal deposits can cause electrical faults
- 3Have a workshop open the transmission control system and inspect the solenoid visually for oxidation, contact resistance and dirt
- 4If the fault cannot be found or fixed, it is most likely inside the solenoid or the control module, and the mechatronic unit will need replacing by a workshop

- Engine warning lamp (Check Engine) lit
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- Gear changes are harsh or jerky
- Gear changes take too long or happen too early, too late or too often
- No automatic gear changes, or no forward or reverse movement in gear

- Forward or reverse movement may be absent in some gear positions
