What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the signal from the gear selector control module (GSM) to the steering wheel paddles. The paddles must be activated by pulling them toward the wheel before they can be used for shifting. The code is set when the signal is missing or shown as incorrect, and it may then not be possible to shift with the paddles.
Possible causes
- One or both steering wheel paddles are stuck in the pressed position
- One or both steering wheel paddles are stuck in the activated position
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in connectors and joints
- Internal fault in the gear selector control module (GSM)
What you can do
- 1Check that both paddles move freely and return when you release them.
- 2Look for any paddle that is stuck in the pressed or activated position, and remove anything that may be blocking it.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the steering wheel paddle status in live data and check that it changes when you pull a paddle.
- 4Have a workshop check the connectors and wiring to the steering wheel paddles.
- 5If the paddles and their connectors are in order, have a workshop check the gear selector control module (GSM).
Symptoms you may notice1
- Manual gear changes with the steering wheel paddles are not possible
