What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the start inhibit signal from the transmission control module (TCM) to the engine control module (ECM). The signal is high despite the gear selector position, and the signal wire may then be shorted to voltage. The engine cannot be started in this case.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the start inhibit signal in live data while the selector is in P and then in D, with the brake pressed.
- 2Look for places where the wire runs close to live parts or other wiring, as it may have come into contact with voltage.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire is not shorted to plus (battery voltage).
- 4If the wire is in order, have a workshop check the transmission's mechatronic unit.
