What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the sensor in the gear selector control module (GSM) that detects the park position. A magnet on the selector affects the sensor. The code is set when the shift lock solenoid is activated in P while the sensor stays inactive after the lever has been moved to R. It can also be set when the sensor position does not match the gear reported by the transmission control module (TCM), for example D.

- Internal fault in the gear selector control module (GSM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the P position sensor status in live data when the selector is in P and when it is in R.
- 2Check that the gear selector's connectors are secure and not corroded.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, move the selector slowly through P, R, N and D and check whether the P position status follows.
- 4Have a workshop check that the link arm between the shift lock solenoid and the gear selector control module is correctly fitted.
