What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns LIN communication between the selector module (GSM) and the TCM. Both units send and receive information, and the code is set when the signal from the TCM is faulty. The gear indicator may then not work and manual shifting is blocked.
Possible causes
- Interference on the LIN wire linking the selector module (GSM) and the TCM
- Internal fault in the gear selector control module (GSM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the selector position in live data and check that it matches the position you have selected.
- 2Press the brake, move the selector to manual mode and check that the status changes.
- 3Test both directions, up and down, and check that the value in the instrument panel follows.
- 4Have a workshop check the connectors on the transmission control module and the gear selector control module for contact resistance and oxidation.
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the selector has no break and that the ground wire is intact.
- 6If no fault is found in the wiring, have a workshop replace the gear selector control module (GSM).

- Manual gear changes are not possible
