What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the gear selector control module (GSM) to the transmission control module (TCM) is too low. Communication runs over the LIN network, and the code indicates that the wire is shorted to ground. The display of the selected gear and manual shifting can then be affected.
Possible causes
- The communication wire between the selector control module and the transmission control module is shorted to voltage or ground
- The communication wire is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: with the selector in P, read the winter program selector status in live data while you press the winter program button.
- 2Inspect the wire for chafing or places where it may have touched the body.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire has no contact with ground (the body) and no break.
- 4Press the brake, move the selector to manual mode and see whether the status changes.
- 5If the wire is in order, have a workshop replace the gear selector control module (GSM) or its circuit board.

- The general warning lamp lights up
- The selector indicator does not work
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- The gear indicator in the gauges does not work
- Manual gear changes are not possible
