What does this fault code mean?
The gear selector control module (GSM) has no supply voltage, and the code is set. The GSM handles the parking lock, manual shifting and the selected-gear display, so these can also be affected. The cause may be a break in the supply wire, an internal fault in the transmission control module, or a break or short to ground in the wire to the shift-lock solenoid.
Possible causes
- Break in the supply wire
- Fault inside the transmission controller (TCM)
- Break or short to ground in the wire to the shift-lock solenoid
- Internal fault in the gear selector control module (GSM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: press the brake, move the selector to manual mode and check that the status changes in live data.
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the selector has no break.
- 3Check that the supply wire is not shorted to ground.
- 4Check the connectors to the selector for corrosion and loose connections.
- 5Have a workshop check the transmission control module (TCM) and the selector control module (GSM) if the wire is in order.
