What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the function that disconnects the driving part of the transmission at standstill with the engine idling, the brake pressed and the selector in D, to reduce fuel use and vibration. The code is set when the engine jerks or runs unevenly as the gear is engaged. The cause is a mechanical or hydraulic fault in the transmission.

What you can do
- 1If there are other fault codes stored for the transmission control module (TCM), fix them first, as any of them may be the cause.
- 2Check that the connectors at the transmission are secure and not corroded.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the engine speed in live data while driving in D and see whether it fluctuates when a gear is engaged.
- 4Have a workshop calibrate the gear position sensor, as it can affect the gear changes.
- 5If the engine jerks when a gear is engaged, have a workshop replace the transmission control system and then check that the fault is fixed.
