What does this fault code mean?
The fault lies in the gear selector control module (GSM), which among other things handles the parking lock, manual shifting and the display of the selected position. The code is set when the GSM itself detects an internal fault.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the gear selector control module (GSM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the selector position shows correctly as you move the selector through P, R, N and D.
- 2Check that the selector's connectors are secure and not corroded.
- 3If the link arm between the shift-lock solenoid and the selector control module seems wrongly fitted, have a workshop check it.
- 4Stop for a few seconds in each position when you move the selector, so that the display has time to update.
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the gear selector control module (GSM).
Symptoms you may notice3
- Message and warning symbol in the display
- Manual gear changes are not possible
- The gear indicator in the gauges does not work
