What does this fault code mean?
The code is event controlled, so it is an information code and does not show that the control module is faulty. It concerns the lock-up solenoid SLU, which governs lock-up in the transmission, and the code is set when the current in its circuit is too high.
Possible causes
- The control signal wire is shorted to voltage, including the wire to lock-up solenoid SLU
- The linear pressure solenoid is not working
- Fault inside the transmission controller (TCM)
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection at the connector to lock-up solenoid SLU
- Lock-up solenoid SLU is stuck or damaged
- Internal fault in the transmission control system
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors at the transmission are secure and not corroded.
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the lock-up solenoid is not shorted to plus (battery voltage).
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault codes from the transmission and note whether there are other codes.
- 4Have a workshop check lock-up solenoid SLU and the transmission control system, as the fault can lie in the solenoid or in the controller.
