What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the shift-lock solenoid, which is controlled by the gear selector control module (GSM). It is set when the solenoid is shorted to voltage, which keeps the lock constantly deactivated. The fault may lie in the wire, the solenoid or the GSM.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged solenoid
- Damaged gear selector control module (GSM)
What you can do
- 1With the car stationary: try to move the selector from P without pressing the brake, and see whether it moves.
- 2Check the connector to the shift-lock solenoid for oxidation and loose contacts.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the solenoid is not shorted to plus (battery voltage).
- 4Have a workshop check the solenoid, as the code can be caused by a damaged solenoid.
- 5If no fault is found in the wire, have a workshop replace the gear selector control module (GSM) and check the transmission control system.

- The gear lever is hard or impossible to move
