What does this fault code mean?
The lock-up function in the transmission is handled by solenoid SLU, which is switched on depending on speed, throttle position and the selected driving program. The code is set when the current through the SLU circuit is too low while the solenoid should be activated, so SLU cannot be activated.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in connections
- A break in the control signal wire or signal ground
- The solenoid is not working
- Internal fault in the transmission controller (TCM)
- Connector or circuit board is damaged or dirty
- Damaged solenoid
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault codes from the transmission and note any other codes before clearing them.
- 2Check that the connectors at the transmission are secure and not corroded.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the control signal wire has no break.
- 4Have a workshop inspect the solenoid for oxidation, dirt and metal deposits, and check the transmission control system.
