What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the current in the circuit to lock-up solenoid SLU, which the TCM drives through a power stage. It is set when the measured current is higher than allowed, which can be caused by a wire shorted to voltage or by a faulty solenoid.
Possible causes
- The control signal wire is shorted to voltage
- The linear pressure solenoid is not working
- Internal fault in the transmission controller (TCM)
- Damaged solenoid
- Connector or circuit board is damaged or dirty
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault codes from the transmission and note any other codes before clearing them.
- 2Check that the connectors at the transmission are secure and not corroded.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire has no contact with battery voltage and is not shorted to other wires.
- 4Have a workshop open the transmission control system and inspect the solenoid for oxidation, dirt and metal deposits.
- 5If no fault is found on the wires or the component, have a workshop replace the mechatronic unit.
Symptoms you may notice5
- The general warning lamp is lit
- The eco lamp lights up
- Harsh gear changes
- Gear changes do not happen
- Abnormally high fuel consumption
What the fault can affect1
- The control module may run a backup program
