What does this fault code mean?
The code is event controlled and does not indicate a fault in the control module; it is designed as information. It shows that the difference between the transmission input speed and the engine speed is too small for a short time, which indicates that the torque converter lock-up has become stuck. The code is a secondary fault and cannot be repaired on its own.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact at plugs and joints
- Open circuit or short-circuit to ground or voltage in the cable to the lock-up solenoid
- The lock-up solenoid is stuck
- The lock-up solenoid is damaged
- Worn torque converter
- Internal fault inside the control module (TCM) of the gearbox
What you can do
- 1This code is a secondary fault that is set together with another code, which is the actual fault. Read all fault codes
- 2Diagnose and fix the other fault code first, following its own description
- 3Clear this code once the actual fault is fixed, and drive the car to see if it returns
Symptoms you may notice5
- Gear changes take too long, are missing, or are harsh and jerky
- Gear changes occur too early, too late or too often
- Lockup does not work
- Drive modes PURE, SAVE and AWD disengage automatically and are not available
- Drive mode HYBRID uses the combustion engine all the time or too often
What the fault can affect3
- Lock-up function is blocked
- Neutral control is blocked
- Electric propulsion is not possible
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
