What does this fault code mean?
The fault code shows that reverse drive does not engage when the gear selector is in position R. The code can also be set when forward drive does not engage in position D. The cause may be a solenoid that is stuck, a damaged solenoid or a mechanical fault in the gearbox. The fault is general and does not say more precisely what type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Solenoid S2 is stuck switched on
- Contact resistance in the connections, or one of the solenoids is stuck in the OFF or ON position
- Mechanical faults in the gearbox
- Damaged solenoid SLC3
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and drive the car to see if it returns
- 2With a diagnostic tool: activate solenoid SLC1 and listen for a clicking sound. If no click is heard, the fault is likely in the control system of the transmission
- 3Have a workshop check the transmission oil level and quality, as they affect the function of the gearbox. If the oil smells burnt it should be replaced
- 4Have a workshop replace the control system if the fault is in the solenoids, or the transmission if no fault is found in them or in the oil

- No automatic gear change
- Red warning symbol and text message in the display
- Check engine light lit or behaving abnormally
- No forward or reverse movement with a gear engaged

- The transmission is controlled by an auxiliary program
- The adaptation function is blocked
