What does this fault code mean?
The fault code is event controlled and does not indicate a fault in the control module; it is designed as information. It shows that the input speed of the gearbox is higher than allowed for the driving conditions. The control module uses the speed to calculate shift timing and to achieve smooth gear changes.
Possible causes
- Wrong adaptation values stored in the gearbox control unit, or an internal fault in it
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose joint in plugs or connections
- One or more of the clutches C1, C2, C3 and C4, or the brakes B1 and B2, are worn or damaged
- A line pressure solenoid (SL1 to SL5 or SLT) is damaged
- Poor quality of the transmission fluid
- Mechanical fault in the gearbox
What you can do
- 1The code is informative and does not indicate a fault in the control module. Read and note it, clear it and drive the car
- 2Have a workshop check the transmission oil level and quality, as poor oil can cause this code
- 3Have a workshop check the stored adaptation values in the control module and the connectors in the transmission control system
- 4If the code returns, have a workshop diagnose the gearbox, as clutches, brakes or mechanical parts may be worn
Symptoms you may notice3
- Gear changes too early, too late or too often
- Gear changes take too long to complete
- Gear changes harsh or jerky
