What does this fault code mean?
The fault code concerns the accelerator pedal position signal, which the engine control module (ECM) sends to the transmission control module over the CAN network. The signal is used for adaptation and to control the gearbox system pressure. The signal is missing or incorrect. The fault is general and does not say more precisely what type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Damaged accelerator pedal position sensor
- Internal fault inside the engine controller (ECM)
- Internal fault inside the control module (TCM) of the gearbox
- Sporadic open or shorted CAN wire between the engine control module and the transmission control module
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the CEM and the engine control module (ECM) and fix those first
- 2Do not clear this code until the other fault codes have been fixed and cleared
- 3Have a workshop check the accelerator pedal position sensor and the CAN wire between the engine controller and the gearbox controller
Symptoms you may notice5
- Poor performance, the car lacks power, especially when starting off
- Check engine light lit or behaving abnormally
- Lockup and kickdown do not work
- Gear changes harsh or jerky
- Automatic engine start/stop does not work, both while driving and at idle
What the fault can affect3
- The transmission control module uses a basic value for the signal, and adaptation is blocked
- Kickdown and neutral control are blocked
- Automatic engine start/stop is switched off, and electric propulsion is not possible
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
