What does this fault code mean?
The fault code concerns line pressure solenoid SL3, which controls the pressure to the clutches. The control module has detected that the gear ratio stays the same when clutch C3 should have released. The shift is then cancelled so that clutches and brakes are not damaged. The fault is general and does not say more precisely what type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Incorrect adaptation values stored in the gearbox control module
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose joint at the plug of line pressure solenoid SL3
- Line pressure solenoid SL3 has jammed or is damaged
- Clutch C3 is damaged
- Poor quality of the transmission fluid
- Internal fault in the transmission's control system or in the transmission control module (TCM), or a mechanical fault in the gearbox
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the gearbox and fix any other fault codes first, as they may be the cause
- 2Have a workshop check the transmission oil level and quality, as poor oil can cause the code
- 3Have a workshop check solenoid SL3, its connector and clutch C3, and replace the mechatronic unit if needed

- The car lacks power
- Engine stalls when a gear is engaged or when slowing down
- No automatic gear change, and no forward or reverse movement with a gear engaged
