What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has detected that the current in the circuit to pressure control solenoid D (SLC3) is incorrect, so the solenoid cannot regulate the system pressure in the transmission. The fault shows up in the gear changes, which may be harsh, missing or slipping. The cause may be in the wiring, the connectors, the solenoid or the control module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open circuit in the control signal wire or in the signal ground
- Solenoid SLC3 is stuck or not working
- Connector or circuit board is damaged or dirty
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the condition of the battery and that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the transmission oil level and look for oil leaks
- 4Check that the connectors at the transmission are fully engaged and not dirty or corroded
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the solenoid and wiring, and replace the mechatronic unit if needed
