What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has detected that the current in the circuit to linear pressure solenoid SL4 is lower than allowed. SL4 regulates the hydraulic pressure for clutch C4 during gear changes. The fault may lie in the wiring and connector, in the solenoid or in the control module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor connection at the SL4 connector or joint
- Open circuit or short to ground in the wiring to SL4
- SL4 is stuck
- SL4 is damaged
- Internal fault in the transmission control system or in the TCM
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the battery has a good charge and that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the transmission oil level and look for leaks
- 4Check that the connector at the transmission is fully engaged and free from corrosion
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check SL4, the wiring to ground and the control module, and replace the mechatronic unit if needed
