What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the speed sensor for the even gears on the transmission input shaft is erratic and does not match the other speed values. The sensor signal is also used to check the two other speed sensors, so the fault can affect the gear changes.

- Faulty sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the transmission input shaft speeds in live data during a road test and see whether any value jumps or differs from the others
- 3If the fault returns, have a workshop read the codes for the other speed sensors, as the fault may lie in the control module
- 4Have a workshop decide whether the sensor needs replacing, or whether the control module needs replacing and programming

- The malfunction indicator lamp comes on
- No automatic gear changes
- Harsh or jerky gear changes
- Gear changes take too long
