What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has detected that the current in the circuit to linear pressure solenoid SL5 is lower than allowed. SL5 regulates the system pressure in the transmission. The fault may lie in the circuit, in the solenoid or in the control module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor connection at the SL5 connector or joint
- Open circuit or short to ground in the wiring to SL5
- SL5 is stuck
- SL5 is damaged
- Internal fault in the transmission control system or in the TCM
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the battery is in good condition and that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the transmission oil level and look for leaks
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check SL5, the wiring to ground and the control module, and replace the mechatronic unit if needed
Symptoms you may notice5
- Message in the display
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
- No automatic gear changes
- No movement forward or in reverse with a gear selected
- Automatic engine start and stop does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Gears that are not available are blocked
- Adaptation and neutral control are blocked
- Automatic engine start and stop is switched off
