What does this fault code mean?
The position sensor for shift fork A sends a signal that is too high. The control module then receives the wrong information about where the fork is, which can show up as harsh or jerky shifts, missing shifts, or shifts that take too long. The cause may be a wire shorted to supply voltage, a damaged position sensor or a damaged control module.
Possible causes
- Wire shorted to supply voltage
- Position sensor is damaged
- Transmission control module (TCM) is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read all transmission codes and deal with any other transmission codes first, as they may be the root cause
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the position sensor for shift fork A with the other three in live data and see whether it stands out
- 3Have a workshop measure the voltage supply to the sensors and check that the wire is not shorted to supply voltage
- 4If the values are near or outside the permitted range, have a workshop replace the mechatronic unit

- Yellow symbol and text message in the display
- The malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light) comes on or behaves abnormally
- Harsh or jerky gear changes
- No movement forward or in reverse with a gear selected
- Gear changes take too long
