What does this fault code mean?
The position sensor for shift fork D sends a signal that is too low. The control module then receives wrong information about the fork position, which can show up as harsh or jerky gear changes, or as shifts that take a long time. The cause may be a wire shorted to ground, a damaged position sensor or a damaged control module.
Possible causes
- Short to ground in the wire from the sensor
- Damaged position sensor
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read all transmission codes and deal with any other transmission codes first
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the position sensor for shift fork D in live data and compare it with the others
- 3Have a workshop check the wire to ground and measure the voltage supply to the position sensors
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop decide whether the mechatronic unit needs replacing

- The malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light) comes on or behaves abnormally
- Yellow symbol and text message in the display
- Harsh or jerky gear changes
- Gear changes take too long
- No automatic gear changes
