What does this fault code mean?
The position sensor for shift fork B says the transmission is in neutral, while the input and output speeds show that a gear is engaged. The control module cannot trust the fork position, which affects gear changes. The cause may lie in the sensor, its position, the voltage supply or the control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged position sensor
- The sensor is in an incorrect position
- Incorrect voltage supply to the sensor
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read position sensor 2 in live data and check whether it shows neutral while a gear is engaged
- 3Have a workshop check the voltage supply to the position sensors
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop decide whether the mechatronic unit needs replacing
