What does this fault code mean?
The control module has detected that two odd gears are engaged at the same time. The transmission has a mechanical interlock meant to prevent this, so the fault may come from a damaged position sensor, or from a damaged interlock together with a hydraulic fault. The cause is hard to track down.
Possible causes
- Damaged position sensor
- Faulty interlock combined with a hydraulic fault
What you can do
- 1Read the other transmission codes first and deal with them
- 2Checking the sensor alone is not enough, as the fault occurs together with a hydraulic fault; have a workshop diagnose it
- 3The whole transmission may need replacing, since the hydraulic fault can sit both inside and outside the mechatronic unit

- The malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light) comes on or behaves abnormally
- Yellow symbol and text message in the display
- Shifts occur too early, too late or too often
- No movement forward or in reverse with a gear selected
- Harsh or jerky gear changes
