What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) does not receive an ambient temperature signal from the engine control module over the CAN network, or the signal is marked as faulty. The control module then uses a default value in place of the real outside temperature.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in connectors and joints
- Open circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Short circuit between the CAN wires
- The fault may lie in the engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop read the codes in the engine control module, as troubleshooting should start there
- 3Have a workshop check the CAN wires for open circuit and short between them, and check the connectors
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The transmission control module uses a default value for the ambient temperature
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
