What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) does not get a valid signal for the requested engine braking from the engine control module over the CAN network. The signal decides when engine braking should be activated, for example in first gear. Troubleshooting should be carried out in the engine control module or on the CAN link to it.
Possible causes
- The cause should be looked for in the engine control module (ECM)
- Temporary breaks or a short on the CAN wire between the ECM and the TCM
What you can do
- 1First read the codes in the central electronics control module (CEM) and in the engine control module, and deal with them
- 2Do not clear this code until the engine control module fault is fixed and its code cleared
- 3If no codes are stored, have a workshop troubleshoot the CAN network
Symptoms you may notice1
- Engine braking is absent, reduced or works incorrectly
What the fault can affect1
- The transmission control module uses a default value for the signal
