What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) receives no valid signal from the engine control module, over the CAN network, about which gear is requested. The control module then uses a default value instead, and the choice of shift quality is affected by this signal.
Possible causes
- The cause should be sought in the engine control module (ECM)
- Temporary breaks or a short on the CAN wire between the ECM and the TCM
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronics control module (CEM) and the engine control module first, and deal with them
- 2Do not clear this code until the fault in the engine control module is fixed and its code is cleared
- 3If no codes are stored, have a workshop troubleshoot the CAN network
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The transmission control module uses a default value for the signal
