What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has lost every link to the engine control module (ECM). The fault can be caused by disturbances or interruptions on the CAN network, but also by the engine control module or the central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- Disturbances or intermittent interruptions on the CAN network
- Fault in the engine control module (ECM)
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Brief open circuit or short on the CAN wire linking the engine module (ECM) to the gearbox module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Check the wiring and connections in the CAN network for looseness, corrosion and damage
- 2Start with the stored codes in the CEM and in any other affected modules
- 3Keep the wiring away from major sources of interference, such as mobile phones
- 4Clear the code only once the other codes have been dealt with and check that it does not return

- The car performs poorly and lacks power
- The gearbox shifts too early, too late or too often
- Gear changes take too long
- The automatic gearbox shifts harshly or jerkily
