What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) and the gear selector control module (GSM) communicate over the LIN network. The selector position cannot be read when the signal from the gear selector module is missing.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and corrosion in connections
- Open circuit in the LIN wire between the gearbox control module and the gear selector control module
- Open circuit in the power supply or earth wire to the gear selector control module
- Damaged gear selector control module (GSM)
What you can do
- 1With the brake pressed, select M on the gear selector and check that the gear indicator changes
- 2Check that the connectors to the gear selector are tight and free from corrosion
- 3Check that the fuse for the gear selector is intact
- 4If the gear indication still does not change, the gear selector control module should be replaced, after a workshop has checked the wiring
