What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) lacks the control information needed for emissions-related functions. This typically happens after the module has been replaced or its memory has been cleared. Once a new configuration has been written into the module, the code clears itself.
Possible causes
- The transmission control module has been replaced, or its memory has been cleared, so the configuration is missing
- Damaged transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes and check whether the code is still present
- 2If the module has recently been replaced, have a workshop check that the correct software and configuration have been loaded
- 3Have a workshop reload the software in the transmission control module with the latest version
- 4Read the fault codes again after the reload, as the new configuration is then read in
- 5If the fault remains after the reload, the workshop needs to check or replace the gearbox mechatronic unit
