What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) is receiving no communication from the steering angle sensor (SAS), which sends information about the steering wheel angle. The fault may lie in the steering angle sensor, but the cause is often brief disturbances on the CAN network. The code often does not need action if it does not come back.
Possible causes
- Fault in the steering angle sensor (SAS)
- Disturbances or brief interruptions on the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Start by dealing with the stored codes in the CEM and in the steering angle sensor
- 2Clear the code and see whether it returns
- 3Check the connector at the steering angle sensor and the wiring harness for looseness, corrosion and damage
- 4Steering is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the steering angle sensor
