What does this fault code mean?
The transmission control module (TCM) has received a vehicle configuration from the central electronic module (CEM) that is incorrect or does not match the one stored in the module. The fault suggests that a control module from another car may have been fitted, or that the software does not suit the car.
Possible causes
- A control module from another car has been fitted
- Incorrect configuration ID, for example if the module is second-hand and has different software or hardware
- Incorrect software in the transmission control module (TCM)
- The fault may lie in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop load the correct software for this specific car into the transmission control module
- 2Read the fault codes and deal with any codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first
- 3If the fault remains after the software is loaded, the transmission control module may be faulty and a workshop needs to decide whether it should be replaced
- 4Clear the code only once the fault has been fixed and check that it does not return
