What does this fault code mean?
The gear selector control module (GSM) has registered that the signal for the gear selector lock (shift-lock) is high even though it is being driven low. This can be caused by a fault in the gear selector control module, or a short to voltage in the wire to the lock solenoid.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the gear selector control module (GSM)
- Contact resistance, corrosion or a loose connection in the connections
- Short to voltage in the signal wire to the shift-lock solenoid
What you can do
- 1Test the gear selector in position P: without the brake pedal it should not move, and with the brake pedal pressed it should move
- 2Check the connectors at the gear selector for looseness, corrosion and damage
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the shift-lock solenoid has no contact with battery positive voltage
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the gear selector
