What does this fault code mean?
The tow hitch control module (TRM) has a battery voltage that differs sharply from the voltage reported by the central electronic module (CEM). The code is only worth acting on if it has been active for a long time and the car has functions that are not working. Otherwise it can be cleared.
Possible causes
- Power supply to the tow hitch control module is short-circuited to ground
- Contact resistance or corrosion in the connections
- Faulty alternator
- Faulty battery
What you can do
- 1If the code has been active only briefly and no functions are failing, clear it without further action
- 2Check that the relevant fuses are intact and that the battery terminals are tight
- 3Check that the battery is charging while driving, and that the car's charging system works properly
- 4Check the connectors and wiring to the tow hitch control module for contact resistance and corrosion
Symptoms you may notice1
- Trailer lighting does not work
