What does this fault code mean?
The tow hitch control module (TRM) has a configuration number on MS-CAN that does not match the one the central electronic module (CEM) sends out. The fault may be because the module is not intended for this particular car, or because of a break in the wiring between the module and the CEM.
Possible causes
- Incorrect configuration ID, for example if the module is second-hand and has different software or hardware
- Break in the CAN wiring linking the tow hitch module with the CEM
What you can do
- 1Check whether the tow hitch control module is second-hand or has been replaced, and if so that the correct software for the car has been loaded
- 2Have a workshop program the tow hitch control module with the latest software
- 3Check the connectors and wiring linking the tow hitch module with the CEM for looseness, corrosion and damage
- 4Clear the code only once the work is done, and check that it does not return
