What does this fault code mean?
The upper electronic module (UEM) registers too low a signal from the rear right reading lamp. The code is set when this happens. The fault is caused either by the switch for the lamp having stuck in the pressed position, or by the signal wire being short-circuited to ground.
Possible causes
- The rear right reading lamp's switch is jammed down
- Short to ground on the signal wire of the rear right reading lamp
What you can do
- 1Check whether the button for the rear right reading lamp is jammed down.
- 2Read off the code, clear it and check whether it returns.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire from the upper electronic module to the rear reading lamp has no contact with ground.
- 4Look for chafed or pinched spots on the wire to the rear reading lamp, especially at the connector.
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the wire and replace it if a fault is found.
