Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The upper electronic module (UEM) reports a low signal level on the movement sensor's supply wire while the alarm is set. The code is set when this happens. The fault comes from the sensor's supply being short-circuited to ground, or from a defective sensor.
Possible causes
- The sensor's voltage supply is short-circuited to ground
- Defective sensor
What you can do
- 1Read off the code, clear it and check whether it returns.
- 2Look for chafed or pinched spots on the sensor's wire and connectors.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the sensor has no contact with ground (the bodywork).
- 4Check that the connectors at the sensor and at the upper electronic module are firmly seated and not corroded.
- 5If no fault is found, have a workshop replace the sensor.
Symptoms you may notice1
- The alarm does not respond to the movement sensor
